TOP 5 SUNSCREENS IN JAPAN

TOP 5 SUNSCREENS IN JAPAN

As you all know, the sun is not always kind to the skin. UV can burn our skin, fastening the aging process. It is dangerous to stay long under the sun without protection like UV-cut clothing, umbrella or using sunscreens. So every day when go outside you need to put sunscreen.

In Japan, the level of UV in daylight is very high during summer. That is one of the reasons why many kinds of sunscreens are introduced in the country.

First we need to understand some basic fundamental about UVA, UVB, SPF, PA:

UVA: 95% of sunlight is UVA. UVA can go deep into your skin, destroy the inner layer of skin. It is the main cause of melasma, tanning, skin, skin cancer. UVA can go through almost everything, house roofs, walls, doors, clothes… except for sunscreens.

UVB: The cause of instant burns on skin, sun burnt and hurt.

SPF (the level against UVB): the higher SPF means the longer time the sunscreen can remain effective against the UVB. Take SPF times 10 to get the actual minutes of protection time of the sunscreen. For example, SPF 50 means the duration you will get protected against UVP by using the product is 50 x 10 = 500 mins (about 8 hours).

PA (the level against UVA): higher PA means the higher ability to cut UVA. The highest level is currently PA ++++

It is best to apply sunscreens about 20 mins before going out to the sun, to achieve the best effect of the sunscreen.

1. ANESSA

(link buy in Amazon)

This is one of the most popular and loved line of sunscreen.

Plus points:

  • The sunscreen is absorbed very fast into the skin after application. Very thin and feels like you haven’t applied anything onto the skin. The skin is smoother and softer after application.
  • There are skin care ingredients in Anessa, so it would be just fine combo for those who want to save time making up in the morning.
  • High protection SPF: 50+, PA ++++

Weak point:

  • High price
  • Alcohol included

By the way, i really like it. Will buy it many time later.

2. Biore UV Bright Milk pink

(link buy in Amazon)

Plus points:

  • Cheap price
  • Very smooth after apply on the face. Make your skin little bit pink, looks cute. The feeling that you are putting nothing on your face. This is so lightweight.
  • Can be replaced for make up base
  • High protection SPF: 50+, PA ++++

Weak point:

  • Little bit dry if you dont applied lotion before that.

3. ALLIE Extra UV Gel (the green)

(link buy in Amazon)

Similar with Anessa i wrote above. In my point of view, Anessa is more popular little bit

4. NIVEA Sun Protect Water Gel

Link buy in Amazon

Plus points:

  • Cheap price
  • Sunscreen pump style
  • Gel type so its easy to apply
  • Lightweight
  • SPF: 50+, PA ++++
  • Odourless

Weak point:

  • Need to apply a lot, if not enough your skin will be burned

5. KOSE Sunscreen Spray

(Link: buy in Amazon)

Plus points:

  • Spray
  • Save time

Weak point:

  • In my exp, u should not spray directly on ur face, just spray in ur hand and then use hand to apply it on your face. That the best way

I highly recommend you can pick up one of those sunscreen above.

  • Lovely to read your description. Thank you so much!
    I have used the Japanese NIVEA Sun Protect Water Gel SPF 50 in the white 140ml bottle in the past. And I love it. Dries up real quick. Not greasy. No rolling. Great base. As a result I actually put the amount of sunscreen on my face that’s needed to truely get to SPF 50 protection.
    Here is the thing though: Now I can only find a blue bottle. Do you by any chance know if that’s just an updated packaging or an entirely different type?
    Thank you and greetings from Belgium ??

    • Thank you for your comment! Yes, it’s updated packaging. The white packaging is before renewal. They are basically the same product.
